POETRY BY BUNNY SANDY

A CHILD CRIES

A child cries

A spirit crushed

A soul is hurt

A cry is hushed

A child?s pain

A broken trust

Ashes to Ashes

Dust to Dust

THE GIRL IN THE PHOTO

I look at the girl in the photo

She is a happy child

Her smile is sweet

She has no worries

I can almost hear her

Laughing

What does the world

Hold for her?

Nothing

She is me

YOU PROMISED

You promised me you?d come for me

I waited for so long

I trusted that you?d set me free

I?m really not that strong

This coffin is so dark and cold

What could have gone so wrong?

I lit the match

And caught my breath

Your face was there and

Death

My screams weren?t heard above the ground

I clawed the lid in vain

Our fate was sealed

And we were one

This is so insane

SCREAM

I press my ear to the icy cold ground

And listen

The crisp night air chills me

The night is so black

I can?t see the sky

I hear a muffled voice

I strain to hear

What is beneath me

My heart beats wildly

A trickle of sweat drips

At the tip of my nose

I hear it

I hear it

It?s the voice

Above

Reading a prayer

Over my

Grave

THE CLOCK

The clock ticks on

Relentless

Why doesn?t it stand

Still?

I fear my time is

Ebbing

I just don?t have the

Will

To live the way I should be

Living

The way I used to

Live

Please stop the clock from

Ticking

I have so much to

Give

MOMMY DIED

Mommy died

Now

A fractured family lives

Apart from each other

With nothing left to give

To each other

Now

We do not exist

Our love and respect

Gone

Gone with Mommy?s

Kiss

I'M SAFE

I?m safe behind my closed

Eyes

Nothing can hurt me

There

The pain is gone

My world is dark

My soul is

Rested

Now

YOUR GRAVE

Do you ever wonder where your grave is?

Who is treading there, right now?

Is someone having a picnic?

Is a house residing there?

The chill that you feel is

Someone

Walking across your grave

Where will you die?

Be buried?

You can?t, you won?t be

Saved

You?ll become part of the earth

Eventually?.Be brave

Tread softly then, my friend

You?re standing on someone?s

Grave

Thanks for reading. It comforts me to write. It can be cathartic.

Love,
Sandy Bunny

Sandy...I reread your poems and they still make me weep. Yes...they are dark but they are also incredibly raw and that is what makes them so powerful.
Thank you for the privilege of letting us in your soul if only for a short while.
I carry you in my heart, as always, Sandy.
