I worked in the Columbus, OHIO Club in 1984-85 (just prior to it's closing), and would love to hear from any of my former Bunny Sisters! I really miss Bunny Bobbie, Bunny Dane and Bunny Candy Hill. I would also love to hear from Bunny Mother Joanne. This Club was owned by Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I was personally trained by Mrs. Smith as a V.I.P. Bunny (but alas! the VIP Room was never opened! lol) I have such fond memories of that Club... and a few HORROR Stories that I could tell! lol. Such as when one of my ex-boyfriends visited the Club, which caused quite a stir as he had a date with SIX of my Bunny Sisters!!! I remember sneaking into the Cabaret Room to forewarn him he'd been found out and they were upstairs plotting some form of revenge, but I can't recall if he left or not.. lol. He was a CAD to say the least... lol. Oh! The money wasn't all that.. but I LOVED being a Bunny!!!! :playboy:

Wow! I can't believe NO ONE has replied or responded to this post! Crying or Very sad
Not ONE of my former Bunny Sisters from Columbus, OH has a computer?... or knowledge of this site? (or both?) Mad

I'm sorry you've not heard from any of your Columbus colleages Bunny Eve. Hopefully some will respond... eventually. But in six years, the original Columbus Playboy Club Message Board had only one post, from Marlene Lehner. Crying or Very sad

It's hard even getting ex-Playboy Club staff members who DO know about this site to post. Tut tut

As for those who haven't found this site (there are still many thousands of former club employees out there who are unaware of this site's existence), I am at a loss as to what to do. Oh for a few spare million dollars to conduct an international advertising campaign on TV, radio, print ads and billboards worldwide. ;)

I guess they are a little intimidated by using a forum. They shouldn't be. A redesign is needed to make this forum more user-friendly. This forum software, like all computer technologoy, was designed by techie geeks and as such isn't very user friendly for casual computer users. They assume that everyone will immediately understand how to do things online. But most people have only the basic computer skills, especially ex-Playboy Club staff who are of a different generation(s) and probably have better activities to take up their time. For all that computer technology is improving, the actual user experience is still confusing with a steep learning curve.

Even the word 'forum' is a little intimidating when really this is just an informal message board (like the original one, but with login capability and other features). That's my fault. I should have stuck to using the term "Message Board". However, one of these days Julius Caesar may post here...

Anyway. As I always say, this site can only be as good as the contributions it's users make to it. So if you haven't posted, get posting! It's got to be better than me rambling on. Do it for the site! Thumbs up

And I am always here to help if you encounter a problem. Unless that problem is me, I can't do anything about that, short of sacking myself. Wink

Thanks Alan for the link to Marlene's post! Y'know, I hate to admit this, but I'm not sure if I knew Marlene or not... I believe I did... but it's been so long now that I can't really be sure. Rolling Eyes At any rate, I appreciate the fact that 'you' responded to my post with extremely reasonable explanations. I realize most of the people from 'my' era are 'low-tech' or ''no-tech'..... Laughing I've been a PC Geek since 1985... but I realize I'm the exception rather than the norm. I think I'll email Marlene and see if she remembers 'me'... and I'll let you know the outcome of the communication... especially since you were so kind & thoughtful to include the link. In the meantime I will take your advice and do some posting around here in. Y'know, I wouldn't have known about this Forum either if it hadn't been for a Friend of mine who told me about it. I guess her Mother was a former Bunny and she did some Google-ing and discovered this Forum.
Thanks again Alan for posting! You're DA BOMB!!!! Thumbs up

I posted lots of "How tos" in the Website Comments and Announcements forum.

The YouTube idea is certainly an option. But I don't think many former Playboy Club staff would be looking for Playboy footage on YouTube.

Over the last seven years, I've tried to ensure that this site ranked highly on the major search engines for the key search terms, e.g. "Playboy Bunny", "Playboy Bunnies", "Playboy Club".

But it seems to have been slipping a little. I'll need to study the changes in the SEO rules, epsecially to learn the new steps for the next Google dance. Wink

You are welcome. There is a link in my salutation post in each of the new forums to the corresponding old message board for each club.

I wish there was an easy, quick way to reproduce the posts from the old message board here to the new forums. It would encourage people to post and reply. But there were over 1,000 posts on the old board, and there is no way to transfer them to this forum as this one is database-driven.

It's just a pity I didn't implement this forum back in 2000, then all the posts would have been in one place.

I am glad you weren't offended. I am well aware that there are lots of people from earlier generations who are VERY computer savvy.

And I know that computer competence and intelligence are not necessarily correlated. As the the example of some MySpace and Facebook pages prove! Wink

I'm glad you found it. Thanks to everyone for their contributions and for spreading the word. For a site like this, word-of-mouth is one of the most important means for spreading the news about the existence of this site.

I'm pleased you finally found a friend from your Bunny days.

Sometimes I get emails from disgruntled members because they haven't received any replies. But what can I do?

I don't have a roomful of 20,000 former Playboy Club staff I dip into to haul out by request a specific individual (just as well, can you imagine the cleaning costs?)

If people want to find friends from those days they need to register and post (as Eve did to eventual success).

Or shout really, really loudly from the top of the nearest hill. "Hey Bunny Stell-aaaaa!!!"

Seriously, I repeat the advice I always give: if you don't put anything into this site, don't be surprised if nothing comes out.

Oh and post here on the forums please, NOT the Guestbook. If anyone needs any help, just email me (I'll even leave out the bad jokes).

From the Columbus Dispatch, 1/24/10.

Mike Harden commentary: Ex-bunny recalls Playboy Club
Sunday, January 24, 2010 3:35 AM
By Mike Harden
Colleen McPherson turned the slender glass stalk between her thumb and forefinger as though it were adjusting the focus control on the past instead of supporting a few ounces of pinot noir.
"The girls at the Columbus Playboy Club were all-American, Midwest farmers' daughters," she recalled. "It was like Hollywood had come to Columbus."
McPherson was a 23-year-old elementary-school teacher and mother of two when Hugh Hefner's agents arrived at the Sheraton Airport Inn and began interviewing an estimated 1,500 women vying for 50 bunny positions.
"Most of the girls trying out were in bikinis and high heels," she said last week. "I showed up in flip flops and a Speedo. One of the TV stations came to the interviews. My grandmother saw it and flipped out. The whole time I worked for the club, we had to hide it from her."
Faint blips of a possible Columbus Playboy Club had begun showing up on local rumor radar in 1980, on the 20th anniversary of Hef's first club, in Chicago. Fifty years have passed since the first Playboy Club opened and 25 since its Columbus counterpart closed. Bunny Colleen is now "Mimi" to her 5-year-old grandson.
"When we interviewed, we were told that if we were going to be selected, they needed to remember something unique about us," she said. "In college, I had worked a summer riding dolphins at Sea World. I guess that stuck with them.
"They put us through eight weeks of intensive training before the club opened," she recalled of autumn 1982.
Would-be bunnies were compelled to learn how to serve a table bending over backward. The move, known as the "bunny dip," required not only contortion but also caution, given that table candles presented fire hazards for bunny tails.
"Some of the girls thought they were going to sleep with Hugh Hefner," McPherson said. "All I wanted to do at the end of a shift was go home to my husband and my two beautiful children.
"We had to be inspected by a bunny mother every day before we started work," she said. "When the club first opened, I would show up at 10 a.m. to get ready for lunch, and there would be people in the parking lot with cameras. After a few of the girls were followed home, we had a bodyguard escort us to the parking lot."
The job had its critics, too. "A bunch of us bunnies were at (T.G.I.) Friday's just relaxing, and some woman -- some random lady -- said she thought what we did for a living was disgusting. She said it was demeaning to our bodies and demoralizing to women."
After a year at the Playboy Club, bunny Colleen became, once again, Colleen McPherson or, as it were, "Mommy." She had four children, switched careers to environmental marketing, divorced and today is 52.
Hugh Hefner, on the cusp of 84, is beginning to resemble an apple doll left too long in the sun.
McPherson is neither boastful nor dismissive of her bunny days. Asked about it, she is apt to say: "It was a glamorous job for someone who had grown up a freckle-faced tomboy."
Retired columnist Mike Harden writes Wednesday and Sunday Metro columns.
