Yes, private messages are private.
The only two people who can see the message are you and the recipient. Likewise if another forum member sends you a message then only you and the sender can see it.
When you send a message it will remain in your 'Outbox' until it is read by the recipient. Once the message has been read it moves to your 'Sentbox'.
You can delete (or keep) private messages.
For anyone wondering how to send another forum member a private message, look for the private message button below any of their posts:
To read your own messages, providing another forum member has sent you one, look for the private message link at the top of any forum page (to the right of the forum logo).
In your 'Profile' you can choose to receive an email notifying you each time you are sent a new private message here on the forums. You still need to come here and log in to read it. The email merely notifies you that there is a message waiting.
(This might seem strange, but if you choose to hide your email, which is a good idea on the Web, then you can be contacted in private by other forum members without having to reveal your email to them.)
The same rules apply as with posting on the forums: always treat other members with courtesy and respect when using the private message system. _________________ Alan, Webmaster
