Hello to my Bunny sisters from Atlantic City
Is anyone still here?
I don't see any posts, so I am wondering if everyone has gone.....
Let's see.....it has been almost 29 years, since we were all hired to be Bunnies. Remember the Bunny Hunt? How much fun it was? The excitement of "auditioning" to be a Bunny? The thrill of receiving the telegram that began with "Congratulations"......
I remember entering the Bunny Hunt, at the Hyatt in Cherry Hill. There were so many beautiful girls trying out. I wore a lavender wrap around skirt....black halter one piece, bathing suit....and "candies" high heels. That way, I only had to take off my skirt, to do the "walk" for the interviewers. The lady who interviewed me, was Harriet Bessler. She was, I believe, a Bunny Mother...and held another position within Playboy. I know she has since passed away.
She asked me several questions....and I still remember this...she said "You are very pretty and you have beautiful eyes." Then she said "Now I am going to watch you walk away....so don't trip" Yikes! (I didn't trip)
If I remember correctly...in the state of New Jersey.....something like 5,000 girls tried out, at the Bunny Hunt....and 200 girls were hired. Pretty impressive. We all shared a common bond. I remember during training, we were all so thrilled to be a part of history......so many beautiful girls....with a common dream....realized.
We had a ball. It was a memory in our lives, which will forever linger. I LOVED going to work. It was so much fun. Live bands performing in the lounges.......watching the winners and losers on the Casino floor. And who could forget "Chicken Man"? Every time he won....he would "Cock a doodle doo"....and he always tipped $25 per drink.
Then there was Abe. He always tipped me $100....for just one soda. His game was baccarat.
Our first Bunny Mother, Sandy Vogelson.....lives in Burlington County (where I reside) and she is married to a prominent judge. I don't know whatever became of Lorraine Mancini, our second Bunny Mother.
I still remember Ann and Linda.....they were sweet girls, who assisted the Bunny Mother. Linda was a former Bunny.
The only seamstress I can recall, was Bea. A sweet lady, as were they all.
I met so many celebrities....sports figures.....John Glenn....it was an amazing time in my life. I am one lucky girl.
The fact that I had to travel 110 miles per day....round trip....meant nothing. I would have driven 200 miles!
Only a very few....... of the fond memories, that I recall...as a Playboy Bunny.
Let's hear some of yours.
Love,
